solid start and i have two comments :
1- to adjust the glass first add a phong shader then close the diffuse and make the color white and adjust the reflection to 0.200 and the specular to full specularity and th cosine power to about 0.8 then open the raytrace option in the shader box and open the raytrace option in the render window too
2- you are using textures in good way
